New Voices, New Stories, New Works
The Choreography Lab offers a platform to present new work in Steps Studio Theater to a live audience. The lab is offered twice a year and welcomes completed dance pieces and dance in collaboration with theater, music, and performance art. Each lab showcases 9-12 choreographers.
A post performance Q&A and an informal gathering with the audience follows each performance.

The Foundation manages all production, marketing, and ticket sales so that artists may concentrate on their artistry. Through this administrative support, the lab becomes a nurturing environment for choreographers, where their work may be seen by important decision-makers in the field as well as colleagues and prospective supporters.
Creative project support includes:
- A choreographic stipend
- Discounted rehearsal space
- Social media marketing support
- A post-Q&A gathering with choreographers and audience
- Photos & videos of your performance for your future marketing needs
- New! Free attendance at the Choreography Lab Workshop Series starting 2025/2026
- One choreographer, selected by the Director of Professional Training Programs, will receive a paid commission to choreograph for the Steps Conservatory
- Pieces selected are considered for future Steps Beyond and Steps on Broadway performances
